peering

Y525-Network (AS207852) is open for peering through common exchange points, even if both networks are already exchanging routes over Route Servers.

If you do not have a common exchange points with us but still want to peer, a Wireguard tunnel may be established between our PoPs. See below for additional criteria for peering through a tunnel.

ipv6 only

Y525-Network is an IPv6 only network.

  • Peering is done over IPv6 on the same LAN.
  • If peering through tunnel, Wireguard tunnels are established over IPv6.
  • BGP sessions are established over IPv6.
  • Only IPv6 routes will be exchanged over the sessions.

peering policy

We keep a simple set of rules for peering with us:

  • Peers must maintain a publicly routable ASN;
  • Peers must only send traffic from their own and downstream networks to us;
  • Peers must only send us traffic destined for the routes we announce;
  • Peers must operate a Network Operations Center (NOC) reachable by email or Telegram;
  • Peers must keep their IRR and registry data up to date at all times;
  • Peers must have a complete and current PeeringDB;
  • Peers shall enforce a strict routing policy to avoid route leaks;
  • Peers shall aggregate their routes to avoid routing table inflation;
  • Peers shall only export their own and downstream network routes to us;
  • Peers are encouraged to employ RPKI signing of their routes;
  • Prefixes with private or other invalid ASNs in AS_PATH will be filtered;
  • Prefixes pointing to well-known bogon addresses will be filtered;
  • Prefixes shorter than a /48 will be filtered;
  • Prefixes with invalid RPKI status will be filtered;
  • AS paths longer than 75 entries will be filtered;
  • We support usage of the GRACEFUL_SHUTDOWN community;
  • As an Educational/Research network, there may be instability due to experimentation;
  • No guarantees are provided for availability or correctness; peer at your own risk;
  • Problematic or abusive peers will be disabled/removed immediately;
  • Policy and peering availability is subject to change without notice.

The following peering rules shall be additionally observed if peering through tunnel is desired:

  • Your PoP shall be ≤50ms RTT away from our PoP.
  • Your PoP shall have an IPv6 address not part of your ASN (i.e., assign to you by your upstream)

how to peer

Please reach out to telegram: @ycyc894 when you're ready to peer! You can also email me your details to [email protected] to request to peer. My timezone is UTC-6 (UTC-5 daylight savings) so please expect some delays in communication if you reside in a different time zone.
